It came as a shock last night to many to hear and see that

shock to see that he beat out established gospel artists to win this award and
Twitter is raving on and on about the surprise this has brought to his fans and
the world of entertainment at large.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X performing Old Town Road www.tasteofcountry.com |
Billy Ray Cyrus was
another surprise to many last night as he was in attendance at the Award show.
It is a wonder for me and out of curiosity to know if he is accepted into the
flock, judging from the standing sing along reaction the audience gave when he
performed with Lil Nas X who is now the reigning rapper of country music with
his viral hit “Old Town Road” on
Sunday Night.
Tyler Perry, (can I get another standing ovation for this
man please) who went from writing and starring in plays spoke about learning to
turn pain into powerful stories. He turned the stage into a pulpit and was
showered encomium by the great Taraji P. Henson who presented the Ultimate Icon
Award to Perry on Sunday night.
Saving the best for last on this page, host Regina Hall paid
tribute to the most popular group of men last night at the BET Awards as she
introduced them to the stage. No, they are not actors neither are they
musicians or entertainers of any sort; they are popular because of their story
which was told and re-told in astounding ways in the four-part series—“When They See Us’ which aired on the 31st
of May. They are now known as the “Exonerated Five” and formerly known as the
Central Park Five in 1989. As they took to the stage to introduce the Grammy
award-winning singer H.E.R., there was about of standing ovation for all five
men: Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Raymond Santana, Yusef Salaam, and Korey
Wise by the audience. Their story moved many to tears all across the world and
with pride they stand in the various walks of life they find themselves in
after their exoneration.
